Jim Denevan makes freehand drawings in sand. At low tide on wide beaches Jim searches the shore for a wave tossed stick. After finding a good stick and composing himself in the near and far environment Jim draws-- laboring up to 7 hours and walking as many as 30 miles. The resulting sand drawing is made entirely freehand w/ no measuring aids whatsoever. From the ground, these drawn environments are experienced as places. Places to explore and be, and to see relation and distance. For a time these tangible specific places exist in the indeterminate environment of ocean shore. From high above the marks are seen as isolated phenomena, much like clouds, rivers or buildings. Soon after Jim's motions and marks are completed water moves over and through, leaving nothing. First, the "Concert à Emporter" (take away show)(a.k.a. "Soirée de Poche" -pocket party). A simple but very cool concept by "La Blogothèque": you suscribe to their website, then ask for an artist to play wherever you want: your house, flat, school, bus, car... (Moriarty, in a church in this video).
BUT: when I say artist, I'm not talking about bad bands nobody never heard of. Indeed, a lot of bands and artists such as the Strokes, REM, or even Jason Mraz (...) already accepted, and the funny thing is that they all enjoyed it. You can see other videos HERE (oh, that's in french btw)
This concept is quite buzzing a lot these days, so be prepared to hear about it often...

Oh and the second thing: Moriarty, a great Franco-American band, mixing Jazz, folk, alternative and funk together to create a unique and original music.Check out their MySpace.

Google finally launched his G1 Phone (a.k.a. "Google Android", a.k.a. "Google Phone", a.k.a. "soon-google-will-provides-everything-even-fridges Phone") yesterday in N.Y.
The phone has been co-developed by Google, HTC and T-Mobile, with the intention of developing a product that delivers the best mobile internet experience. This is also the first phone using Google Mobile (and I really want to see that stuff)
It's a bit larger than an iPhone, but it's included with a Slide out QWERTY keyboard (Blackberry users, bloggers, work freaks, now you know you shouldn't have switched your Blackberry for the iPhone...).
Ok, it's a bit less sexy houlala than the iPhone, but pretty cool anyway.

The Storchen, restaurant in the exclusive Winterhur resort is going to improve his menu with local specialties such as meat stew and various soups and sauces containing at least 75% of mother's milk....

"We have all been raised on it. Why should we not include it into our diet?" Said Hans Locher, the restaurant owner.
And here's the even buzzier thing: the week after, Mr Locher posted ads looking for women donors, offering to pay them over 3 pounds for 14 ounces of their milk...

He said: "I first experimented with breast milk when my daughter was born.
"One can cook really delicious things with it. However, it always needs to be mixed with a bit of whipped cream, in order to keep the consistency."

Lightmark is a project made by Cenci Goepel and Jens Warnecke.

But who are they ?

We are a couple of two persons who like to be outdoors. That’s where we met, that’s where we started to work and that’s where we’ll continue to be. When we met, Cenci was a painter and Jens was engaged in filming, editing and animation: maybe photography was somehow in between.

Why do they create?

We like the process and we like the results. It’s as simple as that. Once we started to figure out that there is more light in the dark than we thought, we wanted to see more of it. So we continued to take pictures at night.

Is the world becoming a better place through culture and fine arts? Yes, we believe so very strongly. But we can’t claim honestly that that’s why we do what we do.
